Private sector role in the Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs)
The Voluntary National Review is an annual government exercise to monitor national progress on the SDGs. Each year we conduct an analysis of all VNRs to identify good practices for including business data, and provide recommendations on how to foster private sector contribution to the Global Goals. We also run tailored programs with governments to strengthen their ability to measure business contribution to the SDGs.
Policy recommendations
Our policy recommendations help governments make an accurate assessment of progress on the SDGs, and the contribution and impact of the private sector captured through reporting with the GRI Standards.

Tailored programs for governments
In 2018, we launched a pilot project in Colombia with UN Development Programme, Business Call to Action and the Ministry of Planning and Development, to help measure the contribution of the Colombian private sector to the SDGs. Since then, we’ve expanded our program with the Colombian government and also engaged with the governments in Indonesia, the Philippines, Peru, Kenya and Bangladesh.
