What is the GRI Professional Certification program?
The GRI Professional Certification Program is a comprehensive curriculum on sustainability, sustainability reporting and the application of the GRI Standards. It was designed to give sustainability professionals the opportunity to enhance their knowledge, skills and expertise in implementing the GRI Standards and to improve sustainability reporting quality. The program offers two flexible learning routes: online, self-paced on the GRI Academy (Route A), or instructor-led and fully or partly delivered by one of the GRI Certified Training Partners (Route B). Those who complete the required courses and pass the exam are awarded the title "GRI Certified Sustainability Professional" and are listed on the GRI website.

Route A (English)
Climate change, human rights, poverty – sustainable development addresses all these global issues and more. It fosters a greener, equitable, and inclusive world. The GRI Sustainability Reporting Standards (GRI Standards) are the first and most widely used standards for sustainability reporting. This course introduces learners to the practice of sustainability reporting and explores key concepts for reporting using the GRI Standards. It takes learners through the current sustainability challenges our world is facing and explains how these can be overcome through sustainable development.
In addition, the course introduces learners to the history of GRI and explains the process by which the GRI Standards are developed and updated. The course describes the benefits of sustainability reporting and presents the main concepts of the GRI Standards, such as the reporting principles, stakeholder engagement, impact, and material topics.
This self-paced online course is designed for individuals seeking to gain a comprehensive understanding of the GRI Standards and how to use the Standards for best practice impact reporting. The course delivers a tailored learning experience that blends the theory of the GRI Standards with suggestions for their practical application. The course explains the structure and purpose of the GRI Standards and introduces the requirements for reporting in accordance with the Standards. It describes the process for identifying impacts and determining material topics, as well as how to report on impacts associated with each topic.
This course is self-paced, providing an in-depth overview and analysis of how to report on human rights with the GRI Standards. The course offers a holistic view of the relevance of human rights and human rights transparency for organizations. It describes the key concepts and the process for identifying impacts and determining material topics in the GRI Standards related to human rights.
In addition, the course discusses the disclosures in the GRI Standards related to reporting on human rights. Through case studies and examples, the course provides practical insights on how to report on human rights using the GRI Standards. It uses knowledge checks and assessments to ensure the material has been properly understood.
This training course explores the global sustainability challenges addressed by the Global Goals and defines the business case for engaging with the SDGs. It explains the role of sustainability reporting and how it contributes to sustainable development and the achievement of the SDGs. In addition, it interprets the current trends, challenges, and opportunities faced by organizations when it comes to reporting on the SDGs.
It takes a deep dive into practical aspects of integrating the SDGs into existing sustainability reporting processes by following the four-step approach outlined in the revised GRI Universal Standards 2021. The course also explores how organizations can disclose the integration of sustainable development considerations into their company strategy and management decisions.
During this course you will be encouraged to reflect on subjects related to the Global Goals, test the knowledge you have gained, and hear from practitioners about the value of reporting on the SDGs and recommendations based on their own reporting experience.
The Certification exam consists of 40 questions of various types (single choice, multiple choice, true/false, complete the sentence) with a time limit of 60 minutes for completion and requires a passing score of 75%. A score between 74,5 and 75,0 will be rounded up to 75%.
Please note that the exam will only be unlocked once you have completed the required training courses. Participants of the GRI Standards Certified Training course (completed through a GRI Certified Training Partner) get a 25% discount on the Certification exam fee. As mentioned in the exam policy, should you fail the exam, you can opt for a retake after a cooling-off period of 7 days. A retake can be purchased with a 50% discount off the regular exam list price.

GRI Professional Certification – Learning Plan (Route A)
The Route A learning plan comprises of these four training courses plus the Certification Exam (see the program leaflet for details).

After completing the courses from this learning plan, you are eligible to take the Certification Exam. If you bought the learning plan in one go, the Certification Exam was already included in your purchase and you will see that you can now open the exam. If you purchased the certification courses separately, the exam will now be unlocked and become available for purchase in the Academy webshop. Please, read the exam policy and the exam instructions (included with your exam purchase) carefully before starting the exam.
Please note that your initial certification will be valid for one year. You can extend it by collecting the required number of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) every year. Check the recertification page for details.

Route A (Español)
Los Estándares GRI para la elaboración de informes de sostenibilidad (los Estándares GRI) son las primeras y más ampliamente adoptadas normas mundiales para la elaboración de informes de sostenibilidad.

El curso en línea "Integración de los ODS en los informes de sostenibilidad" explorará los desafíos de sostenibilidad global que abordan los Objetivos Globales y el caso de negocio para comprometerse con los ODS. También profundizará en el papel de los informes de sostenibilidad comohabilitador del desarrollo sostenible. El curso presenta las tendencias, desafíos y oportunidades relacionadas con la presentación de informes sobre los ODS. Profundizará en los aspectos prácticos de la integración de los ODS en los procesos de elaboración de informes de sostenibilidad existentes siguiendo el enfoque de cuatro pasos descrito en los Estándares Universales GRI 2021 revisados. El examen de Certificación consta de 40 preguntas de varios tipos (de selección simple, de opción múltiple, verdadero/falso, completar la frase) con un tiempo límite de 60 minutos para su realización y rel resultado mínimo para aprobar es 75%. Una puntuación entre 74,5 y 75,0 se redondea al 75%.
Tenga en cuenta que el examen solo estará disponible una vez que haya completado los cursos de formación requeridos. Los participantes del curso de formación certificada en estándares GRI (completado a través de un Socio de Formación Certificado de GRI) obtienen un descuento del 25% en la tarifa del examen de Certificación. Como se menciona en la política del examen, si no aprueba el examen, puede optar por volver a realizarlo después de un período de reflexión de 7 días. Se puede comprar el segundo intento del examen con un 50% de descuento sobre el precio de lista del examen regular.

Si compró los cursos de certificación por separado, el examen ahora se desbloqueará y estará disponible para su compra en la tienda web de la Academia.
