Continuing Education Units

To keep their certification status, GRI Certified Sustainability Professionals need to participate in learning activities that maintain and/or improve their professional competence. 

One Continuing Education Unit or CEU equals to one hour of GRI learning, which is designed to accommodate such professional development. The below courses all count as CEUs and are available via the GRI Academy.

Transparency for Tomorrow: Decoding the Sustainability Reporting Landscape

The course presents an overview of the main sustainability reporting instruments, including the GRI Standards, European Sustainability Reporting Standards, IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards, U.S. SEC Climate Disclosure Rule, TCFD recommendations, and TNFD recommendations.

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Explain the current trends in the sustainability reporting landscape, including the concept of double materiality 
  • Name the key reporting instruments currently shaping the landscape and describe their purpose

Unlocking the ESRS for GRI reporters

This course is aimed at reporting practitioners and those supporting sustainability reporting practices who have experience using the GRI Standards. Other users of the GRI Standards, such as students, academics, data users, and policymakers, are also welcome to take this course. 

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Describe the purpose and key features of the CSRD
  • Give an overview of the structure and key characteristics of the ESRS, including similarities and differences to the GRI Standards
  • Describe the ESRS materiality process and general and topical disclosure requirements of the ESRS, in broad terms
