GRI-ESRS Linkage Service
A tailored alignment review of GRI-ESRS disclosures to support your ESRS gap analysis
This service allows GRI reporters to receive detailed feedback on their existing reporting and how it aligns with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), which are an instrument for achieving compliance with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) in the European Union, in effect from 1 January 2024.
Based on the latest ESRS-GRI data point mapping and the GRI-ESRS Interoperability index, the service provides a comprehensive overview of GRI-ESRS disclosure linkages, with practical feedback on how to use and adapt your existing data points. Reporters also receive suggestions (when material topics are included in the index) for the potential restructuring of the report in line with the ESRS mandatory structure.

Please note: GRI Report Services will be closed from Dec 21, 2024 to Jan 1, 2025. Reporters publishing in 2024 should consider a safe timeline of 30 days after report submission to complete the service. Dec 2 is the recommended deadline to request a service likely to be completed in 2024.
When you choose this service, GRI will:
- Look at your GRI content index and provide granular feedback on specific GRI – ESRS linkages, explaining areas in your disclosures that do and do not align with the ESRS disclosures. This will help you plan your alignment work, and prioritize your data collection efforts.
- Provide feedback on ESRS Topical Areas covered by your GRI material topics’ disclosures, with suggestions on how to structure your ESRS sustainability statement.
- In addition, we will also deliver a list of all ESRS data points that do not have linkages to GRI Standards, to help ensure you are aware of additional ESRS requirements you may have to report on.
It is recommended to couple this service with the Content Index Service to ensure that the information is presented in line with the GRI reporting requirements.
